There are players in the league that just want to have fun. They do not care whether they improve or not. And there are others that are intense about how well they play and would like to win. Neither one is right. Just depends on the person's preference. Sometimes really good players will join a team for a season or two. Then this person will decide that he or she would rather be on a better team so they join what could be considered a top-tier team. What is happening as a result of this is that some contests are really lopsided. I have no pre-conceived ideas that Jennings Oilfielders will ever be league champs. This does not mean that I don't hope or try to make it happen. If I pick up a player one season that helps our chances of making this happen, then I sure don't want to lose them to one of the top-tier teams. There is such a thing as loyalty to a team. But that loyalty has to work both ways. If the team that I am on is not loyal to me, then I may get on a team that will better utilize my talents and be loyal. But getting off of a team just because they don't win as mush as you think they should is foolhardy. Remain loyal to the team and help them to attain what you want rather then jumping on a team that already has!
